Run the Runway, lands at Dublin Weston Airport on Saturday, 12th April 2025 and celebrates the grand opening of Hook & Ladder’s newest eatery, The 1931.

Hook & Ladder, the award-winning Irish family-run eatery group, is delighted to announce a unique charity event, Run the Runway, which is landing at Dublin Weston Airport on Saturday, 12th April 2025. This one-of-a-kind charity fun run gives participants the chance to run (or walk) 3k or 5k along an actual airport runway. The event will celebrate the grand opening of Hook & Ladder’s newest eatery, The 1931, an exciting new addition to the Dublin Weston Airport experience.

‘The 1931’ pays homage to Weston’s rich history, which was founded in 1931, and offers visitors a modern, relaxed Grab & Go concept. This latest venture from Hook & Ladder will serve their signature blend coffee, freshly baked goods, daily salads and sandwiches, alongside granola pots, overnight oats and much more.

Having soft launched their full-service, trendy, brunch-style Hook & Ladder restaurant upstairs at Dublin Weston Airport 18 months ago, it’s become the go to destination for families, couples, for business and aviation enthusiasts alike. Whether it’s grabbing a quick coffee or enjoying a laid-back brunch, whilst enjoying unrivalled views of the aircraft taking off and landing, this unique eatery offers something for everyone.

In partnership with Dublin Weston Airport and ASICS, Run the Runway offers participants the rare opportunity to run along the runway while soaking up the incredible vibes. This family-friendly charity event kicks off at 8.00am (run starts at 8:45am), with pre-run entertainment courtesy of Red Bull’s Official DJ, I Am Ceese. Following the run, participants can enjoy coffee and epic treats from Hook & Ladder, while taking in panoramic views from The 1931 and all in aid of great local causes, charity partners Lucan Special Olympics Sports Club and Celbridge GAA All Stars.

At ‘Run the Runway’ ASICS will host Ireland’s largest community ‘Try On’ event, giving participants a chance to experience their latest range of innovative footwear, including the Gel Nimbus 27, Gel Kayano 31, Gel Cumulus 27, GT 2000 13, and the dynamic Novablast 5. Their highly sought-after supershoes, the Metaspeed Paris and Superblast 2, will also be available to try, with a competition on the day to win a pair of shoes and exclusive ASICS goodies.

Known for their innovative food, award-winning service, and community-driven ethos, Hook & Ladder has brought their distinctive culinary flair from their roots in Limerick to Dublin Weston’s vibrant airport setting.

“We’ve had an incredible response since opening our full-service restaurant upstairs at Weston 18 months ago, and The 1931 is the next exciting chapter. It’s a stunning space, steeped in history, overlooking the runway, and brings something truly different to the Dublin and Kildare café scene. ‘Run the Runway’ is our way of marking the occasion with the local community, and we’re thrilled to partner with Dublin Weston Airport, who have been a great support to us and we thank them for this opportunity, ASICS and our brilliant charity partners who will benefit from the proceeds, for what promises to be an unforgettable morning.” Andrew Moloney, Managing Director at Hook & Ladder
