The Merrion introduces classical music performances to its Art Tea menu as well as announcing its official hospitality partnership with the Royal Irish Academy of Music
The Merrion hotel is delighted to announce a new series of weekend piano recitals to take place each afternoon, in collaboration with its neighbour, the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
The acclaimed five-star hotel will also become the officially Accommodation partner for the RIAM’s flagship Wigmore Series concerts which will take place this year in Dublin.
Starting this weekend talented students of the Academy will perform on a baby grand piano in the hotel’s elegant drawing rooms during the hotel’s celebrated Art Tea, honouring the centuries old hospitality tradition of live musical performances in Ireland’s great houses.
Sounds of the great composers such as Beethoven, Chopin and Mozart will entertain guests in the drawing rooms as they indulge in the hotel’s carefully curated afternoon tea menu including signature pastries, teas, and other delightful treats inspired by the hotel’s world- class art collection.
According to Dorothy MacCann, Brand Director of The Merrion: “We are delighted to work with the Royal Irish Academy of Music to bring this exciting programme to life. We hope to provide our guests with an unforgettable and special
afternoon tea experience, as well as showcasing the great talents of future classical music performers.”
With Deborah Kelleher, Director of the Royal Irish Academy of Music adding: ‘We are absolutely delighted to welcome the Merrion Hotel as Accommodation Partners on the Wigmore Series. It is important for us that visiting artists have a fantastic experience when they visit Dublin and being able to host them in the wonderful surrounds of the Merrion Hotel is something special. We are also very appreciative of the opportunities offered to our students to showcase their talents as part of the RIAM at the Merrion initiative’.
