All of us at Youth Suicide Prevention Ireland are so grateful to The Europe Hotel & Resort for their wonderful support in collecting such an amazing amount of money and helping raise awareness for the work we do through the bear appeal. These are challenging times for all charities and the money raised will help us continue to provide our vital youth mental health awareness and suicide prevention services to schools, colleges, parents, teachers, students and youth organisations throughout the country.’ – Tony Philpott – CEO of YSPI.
In December 2024, The Europe Hotel & Resort was delighted to welcome back Bertie Bear and his cousin, Charlie Bear who always come to stay at the five-star hotel for the festive season! As well as the families getting together, the two cousins like to do something to help others and in December they chose to support YSPI as the hotel’s annual Christmas charity.
YSPI is focused on delivering mental health awareness and suicide prevention programs to schools and colleges. Facilitators work directly with students to promote awareness, provide skills and advice, and offer support to teachers and staff as needed. They offer a wide range of online resources, including online training and publications on youth self-harm and suicide.
Additionally, they operate a FreeText service, allowing individuals in crisis to text the information service free of charge. They also provide funding for immediate crisis counselling access for at-risk teenagers. Facilitators and volunteers organize outreach events and awareness campaigns nationwide for parents, community organizations, and voluntary groups.
