Impressive new €20m state of the art convention centre — Dublin Royal Convention Centre — to open on the new Le Pole Square development at Ship Street Great this November

Set to be unveiled in November 2022, Dublin’s newest meeting and events venue, the Dublin Royal Convention Centre, will open on the new Le Pole Square development, under the same ownership of the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Dublin and Velvære Spa. This marks the final phase of the significant complex development on the historical site.

This latest addition to the stylish and sophisticated city centre hotel offers a brand new, state of the art, purpose built convention centre. Offering convenient, functional and flexible facilities, the venue is expected to make events extraordinary, from private boardroom meetings to professional conferences of up to 800 people and gala banquets for 550 guests.

With over 2,700sqm of meeting and event space with capacity for over 1,100 delegates, the new venue spans over two floors, consisting of the main plenary room, five break-out rooms and an impressive exhibition space. The complex now offers 20 meeting spaces across the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel and Dublin Royal Convention Centre, as well as outdoor, open-air event space.

Reddy Architecture & Urbanism, also involved in the initial hotel build, are once again responsible for the striking modern design of the new convention centre, with a series of exceptional spaces.

The main Douglas Hyde Suite (named after Ireland’s first president) on the ground floor level of the Dublin Royal Convention Centre spans almost 705sqm to facilitate 800 delegates theatre style or up to 550 banquet style. The suite can be divided into two separate suites and has been purposefully designed with large scale conferences, exhibitions & events in mind.

The spacious pre-conference space is perfect for serving refreshments, lunches and pre-dinner drinks. The Higgins and Robinson Suites are available on the upper ground floor of the Dublin Royal Convention Centre, again each with substantial break out space and elegant modern decor.

In addition, the Dublin Royal Convention Centre can accommodate guests with 234 bedrooms available at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Dublin as well as the existing hotel meeting spaces, which, added to the new convention centre capacity, brings the total meeting space across the two properties to almost 4,000sqm.

“We are delighted to be in a position to introduce the long-awaited Dublin Royal Convention Centre to our vibrant city,” says Madeline Riley, CEO of Luxor Leisure Limited, the management company of the complex. “This project has been a long time in development and much-anticipated by our existing clients of the hotel. With invaluable client feedback and close attention to detail, the convention centre has been carefully designed and configured to deliver world-class meetings and events.”

Working alongside historians, architects and preservation specialists, the site itself is at the centre of the formation of Dublin, close to the very spot where the city was originally settled, over a thousand years ago. Set on the preserved site of the 12th Century St. Michael Le Pole Church, the Dublin Royal Convention Centre at Le Pole Square is adjacent to Dublin Castle, connecting the bustling Dame Street, George’s Street, and the historic castle with St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Christchurch Cathedral. The ideal location is within minutes from Dublin’s finest shopping precincts, great restaurants, bars, thriving nightlife and key cultural touch points like the best theatres and galleries, and only a few minutes’ walk from Trinity College.

Madeline Riley “Our mission of connecting people and creating memorable experiences is something that has been embedded in this project from the very start. Connecting the old with the new, right through to the design, look, feel and atmosphere of the new venue.”

In addition to the Dublin Royal Convention Centre, the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel and Velvære Spa, Le Pole Square will also be surrounded by first-class offices, café, bar and a gallery space, each ideal for public visitors and private hire. The Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Dublin has been transformed from a standalone destination hotel to what is essentially a district in the heart of the city — with office and retail spaces, an exceptional hotel, a variety of dining options and a superb spa, along with the fact that you cannot be more central, on the doorstep and within steps of everything the city has to offer.
